About

Professional Spotlight: Iwona Wozniak 🌿 I am Iwona Wozniak, a Registered Nurse in UK with a background in psychiatric nursing. UK Registered Adult Nurse (NMC) | MSc Nursing | Specialist Qualification in Psychiatric Nursing, Mental Health support, Parenting Support Alongside my professional experience, I am also the mother of a teenager on the autism spectrum, giving me both professional and personal insight into some of the challenges young people and their families may experience. I provide compassionate, person-centred support to young people and their families, working within my scope of practice and in line with professional standards. As a mother of a teenager on the autism spectrum, I also have a personal understanding of the needs of young people and parents, as well as some of the challenges they may face. My role involves listening carefully, offering guidance, supporting emotional wellbeing and helping young people and families navigate mental health and developmental concerns with dignity, respect and confidentiality. I support young people and families who may be experiencing emotional difficulties, mental health concerns, stress, anxiety, behavioural changes or challenges with everyday life. I also support parents who would like reassurance, guidance and a better understanding of their young person’s emotional needs, including families navigating neurodiversity and autism-related challenges. Families often seek support for: • Anxiety and low mood • Stress and school pressures • Emotional regulation difficulties • Confidence issues • Changes in behaviour • Relationship and communication difficulties • Concerns about overall emotional wellbeing I also hear from parents who feel overwhelmed and would like help understanding how best to support their child or young adult. A parent may consider seeking support when they notice changes in their young person’s mood, behaviour, sleep, communication, relationships or ability to manage everyday life. Support can also be helpful when parents feel unsure about how best to respond and would value professional guidance, particularly when trying to understand complex emotional or developmental needs. I provide a person-centred and supportive approach based on active listening and understanding each young person’s individual needs. This may include emotional support, psychoeducation and practical guidance for families. I aim to create a safe and respectful space where young people feel heard, valued and supported, while parents feel understood and empowered. I enjoy building trusting relationships with young people and supporting them on their journey towards improved emotional wellbeing. It is rewarding to see young people feel understood, grow in confidence and begin to recognise their own strengths. I also value helping parents feel more confident and less alone. What advice would you give to a parent worried about their young person? Trust your instincts and do not wait until difficulties become overwhelming. Seeking support early can make a real difference. Listening without judgement and creating an open, safe environment where your young person feels comfortable talking is very important. Parents should also remember that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. Do you offer online or face-to-face appointments? I currently offer online support through remote consultations, including telephone and email communication, helping make support accessible to young people and families. How can families find out more? Families will be able to find out more about Iwona’s support and contact her through her professional profile on The Parent Source. I am passionate about providing compassionate and professional mental health nursing support in accordance with the NMC Code. If needed, I refer clients to appropriate specialists to ensure they receive the most suitable care and support. #TheParentSource #ProfessionalSpotlight #RegisteredNurse #MentalHealthSupport #Neurodiversity #AutismSupport #YoungPeople #ParentSupport #FamilySupport
