About

I am an art psychotherapist based in Sussex. I work with both adults and adolescents in my private practice (in person in Brighton, and online), in addition to employed work providing art therapy in a variety of primary and secondary schools across Sussex. I welcome inquiries from anyone curious about art psychotherapy. Art therapy is unique in that it offers tangible sensory and creative experiences to help you explore your emotions and self on a deeper level. It can be helpful if you find it hard to word how you feel, or to get to the feelings underneath your thoughts. You do not need to be 'good' at art! Some people prefer to make lots and talk very little, others prefer talking and make art occasionally. Whatever your preference, we can find the right balance for you. My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic, meaning I value the importance of clients' early experiences, significant relationships, and conscious and unconscious feelings. I practice in a trauma-informed way, meaning I prioritise establishing a safety within the therapeutic process and relationship before delving into any trauma. I am led by each client's individual pace and needs. I am queer, trans and neurodivergent, and welcome opportunities to work inclusively with all people. I believe we are all deeply affected by the systems we exist within and the power dynamics that can arise from this. I see my role as helping clients connect with their deepest selves and finding ways forward that work for them, rather than telling anyone what to do or who they are. Art therapy is collaborative, relational, and non-judgemental. You can find more information on my website, www.kiperevtherapy.co.uk , or email me at kip@kiperevtherapy.co.uk
